Galaxy Fold: Innovation Sessions

My input into the Galaxy Fold project was to regularly co-run ideation workshops covering participatory design exercises to produce potential smart, biometric or new forward thinking features, interactions, native apps or industrial designs that would help put the new device at the forefront of the market, in April 2017 release.

The workshop format

We recruited different participants from within the Vancouver office each time a workshop was held. We had the entire UX team join for a few sessions (total of 12 people) and other times we recruited a mixture of Developers, Project Managers, Data Analysts and Designers to ensure we had a mixed bag of expertise and unique points of perspectives.

This was our format,

  • First, the briefing. We outlined the project goals and deliverables to ensure the team was aligned and we could power through our workshop with minimal Q+A.

  • We allocated 10 minutes for each participant to sketch out a ‘blue sky’ idea of how the product may be interacted with by different sectors of our hypothesized user base.

  • At the end of each round, every participant would have a chance to present their idea and discuss the potential with the group. Once each participant was done we would typically do a second round which would be inspired by the previous presentations and discussions.

  • After the workshops it was my duty to compile a detailed report of the ideas which would be sent over to the core team in HQ for review and feedback.

Further details of this project are still under NDA’s, so unfortunately I cannot disclose anymore information.
